Cumberland Bend Golf Course is a Public, 9 hole golf course located in Gainesboro, Tennessee.
The course opened in 1970.
This scenic course was built on hilly terrain alongside the Cumberland River. Water comes into play on two holes.
#3, a 536-yard, par 5, is the most difficult hole, It requires an approach shot around a large tree and over water to the green.
The course plays to a 9-hole par of 36 and measures 3,081 yards. Men and women hit from the same tee box.
The course closed on Dec. 31, 2015.
The course had been for sale with an asking price of $800,000. Besides the downturn in the golf market in general, and $800,000 is an aggressive number, the real problem may be with the property situation. The course owner owns 20 acres on which the course sits, the bulk of the course sits on land leased from the Corps of Engineers. The lease was up for another 20-year renewal and apparently, you don’t pay anything for the lease acreage, you just maintain it. In that, the purchase of the course only really buys 20 acres it is the leased land situation that probably doomed any sale,
